November 2009

Welcome to November!

New furries

We have a bunch of new animals at the shelter.  They came from a backyard breeder that could no longer afford to feed them all.  We have a shi-poo, sheltie, mini aussie/maltese, beagle/mini aussie cross and three kittens.  They’re all very skinny right now and need lots of food and love, not to mention vet care (all have worms, fleas and have not had any vaccinations).  These pictures below are of their arrival and these are some of the little furries that benefit from your generous donations each month.

Also, this is Sable.  He is a 6 month old sheltie that was going to be euthanized for space.  He is a very sweet boy but needs to be altered and also needs a little time to get over his extreme shyness.  We expect that soon enough he’ll be jumping around and ready for his new forever home.

How you can help:

As always, we are really in need of your donations.  Some people like to send up supplies for the animals while others like to send funds for veterinary costs.  We are so appreciative of all the help our supporters provide and could not take care of all of these critters without you.  As we approach the holiday season, donations usually dwindle as people have other financial commitments.  We know the economy has been tough on everyone but we do ask that for those who can that you remember the animals this year as well.  Again, we can’t do this without you!

T-shirts

We have Hope4FuzieFaniez t-shirts for sale!  These are available in sizes M-4XL for $25 for the first shirt and $20 for each additional shirt.  Shipping is FREE!  Check out the order page on our new website and 100% of the sale of these shirts goes directly to caring for the animals.

Success stories: (from Ally and Mike O.)

Bunnies are the third most disposed of pet in the United States.  Many shelters, including Hope4FuzieFaniez, are responding to this need to take in house rabbits and find them homes.  These two bunnies were breeding rabbits used to make baby bunnies to sell to pet stores.  They’ve never really been socialized, handled or treated as anything other than a commodity.  We adopted them from Tami and they’ve been the happiest little bunnies.  Penelope, the black and white one, loves to stand in the sun and eat clover while Isabelle, the lop, prefers running in her new fenced yard.  It doesn’t seem like either has ever been outside of a cage and both seem to very grateful to be brushed and offered yogurt snacks.  If you’re thinking about adding a bunny to your family, please consider a shelter bunny (the rabbits are already altered and vetted) and don’t support the cycle by purchasing from a pet store.  As you can see from these photos, you can get beautiful animals from a shelter and these are the guys who really need your love.

We also have some pictures from an awesome little kitty that was adopted last month, Cowboy Joe.  His new family says he’s settling in just great and might even need a companion (we have lots of them here!!)
