October 2009

Welcome to October!

This month’s Hope4FuzieFaniez newsletter is dedicated to the shelter president’s dog named Country.  Country passed away this month and she is greatly missed.

Tribute to Country

Wow- Country Dog...... I got her 17 years ago for a Christmas present. She was TINY and only 6 weeks old.  I used to take her out and run around the garage over and over and over again so she would be tired and sleep through the night. She was a Rottweiler/ Golden Retriever cross, and ended up being a big girl! ~ When she was 4 months old she went and got spayed, and never went to the vet again in all her life. She didn't like to ride in the car, but when I moved out here from Nebraska she sat right beside me in the pickup for 13 hours, and started a whole new life with me. She was a naughty girl, and it seems like she tried my patience for 17 years!  BUT..... I wouldn't have had her any other way. She was a Country Girl, and lord knows we are set in our ways and stubborn. She never had a thing wrong with her except arthritis. The day before she passed away was the only time I had to help her outside to potty. She ate that day, drank, took her meds, and then the next day said “I am tired" and didn't want to go out or anything. I just laid there with her and she went to sleep and took one last breath and was gone. It was so easy and peaceful it was unbelievable. Seems like she has been with me forever, and I will miss her forever...... Rest in Peace my Country Girl. I Love you.... and I will see you at the Bridge one day.  Mom

Freezin’ Faniez Fundraiser

Winter is coming to Colorado and we need to begin preparing the shelter for those long cold months.  Our costs average around $1,500 per month and we truly appreciate all of the financial and supply donations we receive from you each month that allows us to care for the many cats, dogs, horses and rabbits at the shelter.  However, because we are so rural, it is difficult to travel to town to purchase more food and supplies for the animals with several feet of ice and snow on the roads.  Therefore, we are asking you, our supporters, to help us stock the shelter to last us until spring.  We’ve compiled a list of necessities for the five winter months from November until April and these items total $5,175.  It’s a lot of money but if we all work together we can be sure the little animals have enough food to last until spring and fill in all the lines in the fuzzy fanny below!

If you’d like to help, donations information is here on our website: http://www.hope4fuziefaniez.com/donate.html.  We will be updating this information on the website several times per week with what has been donated and what still needs to be purchased.  We will be sending this out via email periodically and you can always see how we’re doing at http://www.hope4fuziefaniez.com/events.html. Thank you for helping the unwanted animals that so desperately need you!

Halloween happiness!

Halloween is at the end of this month and we’d like to encourage all of you to send us pictures of your pets in costume.  We will be publishing all of them in the November 2009 newsletter.  This is a great way to celebrate the joy animals bring to our lives and bring laughs to other people.  Please send them to us by October 30th.

Success story: (from Debbie)

Clair was a schipperke mix recently adopted by an awesome family.  Her mom sent these photos from their Labor Day weekend at a cabin near Guernsey. “Clair was SO good and had so much fun. She explored but stayed close with our other dogs. One photo is her drinking out of our bear fountain, another standing on our cabin deck and one from our couch inside, resting. She is a pleasure!!!!!!”  Clair is a very lucky little girl and thank you Debbie for giving her such a good home!
